Poem of William HermannsP261
Light
When I was born you looked into my eyes. You were the first, I saw. Where do you go when darkness covers me? Where I shall be, your conscience will reveal. Did you treat it with awe Or did your ego speak; "I shall decree What's good, what's bad for you."? Did greed hang on your conscience door A golden lock? Then greed will be The leading thought in your next life. And greed becomes the Devil's whore, Begets more greed, more gluttony. But I, the light, the mother of your conscience Will wait until your ego-dream Has passed. For me a thousand years Are but a day and so your thousand lives. One sigh for light, and I'll send you a beam That breaks your golden lock. Your conscience rears And pulls you out of hell engulfing greed Into a life, where I the light Look in your eyes at your new birth And give you sight. William Hermanns [P261] Note: P261. Light; 1970's |
