To My Neighbor

I lift you higher,
lift you out
of your body cells
stuffed with anxiety
of your past -
an evil load that smells.

I'll fill each cell
with love and joy
that makes the
angels dance.
You'll glide through earthly
filth and stench -
a spiritual trance.

From your youth filled eyes,
your hands
and feet,
a holy peace shall flow,
so you and I
be filled with grace -
let us be still
and know.

Seelentränen sind Gedichte,
rot mit Herzblut aufgeschrieben,
tiefem Menschenleid zum Ruhm,

Lies sie still in reinem Lichte,
unbeschattet,
frei von Trieben:
Du betrittst ein Heiligtum.

        Am I Not Your Son

Lord God, unveil to me your face,
although your will be done.
Yet why should not my will be yours,
am I not your son?

You promised once another son,
"All what I have is thine."
Lord, let my eyes be plunged in yours,
enable them to shine.

We pass the Red Sea once again;
filled with despair and sighs.
To help my brother, need light:
Take over, God, my eyes.

If our crossing means the end,
Armageddon waits on shore.
Oh God, give me your light to see:
One man's plea saved before.
