To My Neighbor

I lift you higher,
lift you out
of your body cells
stuffed with anxiety
of your past -
an evil load that smells.

I'll fill each cell
with love and joy
that makes the
angels dance.
You'll glide through earthly
filth and stench -
a spiritual trance.

From your youth filled eyes,
your hands
and feet,
a holy peace shall flow,
so you and I
be filled with grace -
let us be still
and know.

Seelentränen sind Gedichte,
rot mit Herzblut aufgeschrieben,
tiefem Menschenleid zum Ruhm,

Lies sie still in reinem Lichte,
unbeschattet,
frei von Trieben:
Du betrittst ein Heiligtum.

Don't Chain Your Mind

Don't chain your mind
within your cell of little life
and order it to paint.

It paints what lies behind,
now a face of hate and strife,
now an altar or a saint.

It paints with aging greed
a labyrinth of pain,
of erring lust.

Its fading colors feed
the past with gray refrain:
long dead and dust.

Unchain your mind:
the cell of little life-it breaks
to fill new life with rainbow hues,

and visions unwind
of cosmic islands, star-filled lakes.
Space gives your mind lost views.

It paints no longer earthly crumbs,
paints limitless and free as hope
celestial tidbits and becomes
a spiritual kaleidoscope.
