To My Neighbor

I lift you higher,
lift you out
of your body cells
stuffed with anxiety
of your past -
an evil load that smells.

I'll fill each cell
with love and joy
that makes the
angels dance.
You'll glide through earthly
filth and stench -
a spiritual trance.

From your youth filled eyes,
your hands
and feet,
a holy peace shall flow,
so you and I
be filled with grace -
let us be still
and know.

Seelentränen sind Gedichte,
rot mit Herzblut aufgeschrieben,
tiefem Menschenleid zum Ruhm,

Lies sie still in reinem Lichte,
unbeschattet,
frei von Trieben:
Du betrittst ein Heiligtum.

An die Kritiker

Meßt mit eurem Lehrerstab
Anapäst, Trochäen Jamben,
teilet ein des Dichters Nöte:
Distichon und Dithyramben.

Und ihr Ellenbogenjugend
schlagt auf die Romantik ein,
gebt dem Akt den nackten Namen:
Goldnes Kalb wird goldnes Schwein.

Doch es gibt ein menschlich Sehnen
das dem harten Alltag spottet,
das nicht die Vernunft anbetet,
doch was unwägbar vergottet.

Weh dem Dichter, dessen Schöpfung
Märkte aufsucht, um zu gleißen,
Weh dem Wert, der Freunde wirbt.-
Freund und Zeitgeschmack verschleißen.

Wem Gefühle unabdingbar,
läßt sich nicht vom Tage leiten,
Dichter feilsche nicht um Beifall,
dann wird Nachwelt dich begleiten.
